Meet Simon, the Baby Bear on His Journey to a New Life šŸ»

Simon, a baby sun bear, was found in the dense forests of Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan. Alone and seemingly lost, this tiny cub wandered into a local villager's fruit garden, drawn by the smell of ripe fruit. The villagers noticed Simon looked extremely hungry and weak, with no sign of his mother nearby. Out of compassion, they allowed him to eat as much as he could. The sight of such a young bear fending for itself touched their hearts. The next day, Simon was still lingering around the garden, likely still searching for food and comfort. The villagers, concerned for his safety, debated what to do. Without his mother to protect him, Simon was vulnerable. The villagers knew that leaving him alone might mean he could fall prey to hunters or get into dangerous situations. Fearing that someone might harm or kill the defenseless cub, they decided to take action.

Simon was carefully captured and handed over to soldiers stationed near the Indonesian-Malaysian border. The military personnel, understanding the gravity of the situation and the importance of protecting wildlife, quickly reached out to the East Kalimantan Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA). The rescue team wasted no timeā€”soon after receiving the call, they mobilized to bring Simon to safety.

Upon arriving at the Long Sam Rescue Center, Simon was visibly frightened. He had been through so much in just a short periodā€”separated from his mother, captured by humans, and transported to a completely new environment. But things started to change for him. At the rescue center, Simon was given the care and attention he needed. The first thing the caretakers noticed was his love for milk. The warm bottle of milk soothed him, and for the first time in a while, Simon began to feel safe.

As he settled into his new life at the center, the caretakers also discovered his fondness for honey. Just like the wild bears who seek out honey in their natural habitat, Simon couldnā€™t get enough of it! This love for sweet treats became part of his daily routine. To improve his overall health, the caretakers added eggs and other protein-rich foods to his diet. Slowly but surely, Simonā€™s condition improved. His once frail body began to show signs of strength, and his bright, curious eyes started to sparkle. Simonā€™s journey is a story of resilience and hope. From the forests of North Kalimantan to the safety of the Long Sam Rescue Center, he has gone from a frightened, lonely cub to a healthy and playful young bear. His road to recovery continues, and the dedicated team at the rescue center is committed to giving Simon the best chance at a happy lifeā€”one day, possibly even returning him to his true home in the wild.

But for now, Simon is growing stronger with each passing day, surrounded by the care and love of those who saved him. His story is a reminder of the importance of protecting our wildlife and the incredible impact we can make when we come together to help those in ne
